I am so excited to (finally) finish this faux fireplace tutorial for yall. This project is simple, and it’s not fancy. I love it because it is a basic, cheap DIY that you can easily take and mold to your own style. I keep our home decorated fairly clean and simple. I like a lot of straight lines, which ends up meaning that things are often easy to build. Things are also often easy to build because I am NOT a master DIY-er or handywoman (and neither is my husband). I am going to share with you how we did it. Disclaimer: I am sure there are more “official” or “proper” ways of doing it. But that brings me back to my previous statement. I am not a master. This way worked great for us! This is for anyone else out there who wants to DIY, but needs to keep it easy!
Hi all! Currently sitting in my pajamas with an “I-work-night-shift” hangover. Two weeks until day shift and I can’t wait. Recently, I have been getting a lot of questions about how to grow your Instagram account. Like so many that I put out a poll in my Insta stories to see if you guys wanted to see a blog post about it. And the overwhelming answer was a YES. Now, I don’t have hundreds of thousands of followers and I just started really doing thing Instagram thing in October, but I will definitely share with y’all what I have found that works and what I have found that did not work! Keep in mind, what works for me might not work for you 100%, but I sure hope it does and that you are able to walk away from this blog post with a little bit of insight into how to grow!
We bought a builder-grade house. And (surprise) it came with builder-grade mirrors. You know, the plain-jane mirrors connected by the little clips. I knew that I wanted to do SOMETHING to make them look better. I contemplated buying new mirrors altogether, which was turning out to be very expensive. So I searched for a more budget-friendly alternative! One of my Instagram buddies, @societyofsumner, had posted how she framed her builder-grade mirrors. Hers came out so good. And I knew I had to do it! I did a little internet search and there are A LOT of people who have done this in various ways. I’m going to share with y’all how I did it. And if you aren’t already wondering… the whole project cost me about $75 for both bathrooms! Continue reading
Well. It’s kinda hard to believe, but everywhere is loaded with spring things! I feel like Christmas JUST ended. And it’s snowing outside. Nevertheless, Spring decor is here & it’s so cute! Y’all know I love a good deal, and these are ALL under $50. Scout’s honor. You’ll find Spring & Easter in here and I hope you like it. I have purchased a lot of things from this list, so if you have any questions, ask away!

The temperatures have dropped as low as 15 degrees in North Idaho so that inspired me to share with y’all my cold weather must haves! Growing up in Southern California, I had no real cold weather clothes. My idea of cold was high 50s low 60s. So I have slowly collected an arsenal of cozy, toasty, warm stuff. Dick’s Sporting Goods is 20% off online today (including sale!) with free shipping so I have collected my favorite cold weather must haves from their website to share with you! This post is not sponsored by Dick’s. I just love a good sale + they have a freaking good selection.
Wallpaper is officially making a comeback, yall. And it is so much better than it was in the 90’s. Peel and freakin’ stick! Hell. Ya. But I get it, even the peel & stick is a little daunting. Hopefully this post puts you at ease. Because I have never applied wallpaper before. But it was 100% doable and makes a real statement! Seriously. It also makes everything else easier to design around, in my opinion. Once I had my grey brick wallpaper up, it kind of “set the tone” for the room & made everything else easier to pick.
Whenever I post a picture of my master on my Instagram (@everydaykacie), I get so many messages about my wallpaper. Does it peel in the corners? Was it easy to put on? Would I recommend it? So I decided to write this to answer all your wallpaper questions, & offer a couple tips, too.
I think it’s pretty safe to say that Amazon rocks. We can shop from the comfort of our own couch – while drinking wine and wearing yoga pants – for literally EVERYTHING. And then it just gets delivered right to our door in those great Prime boxes. But sometimes it’s hard to weed through so many different things because Amazon does have so. many. things. Which is why it’s great! To kinda help you sift through, I’ve curated a list of my Top 20 Farmhouse Buys from Amazon for your kitchen & living room/family room. I own A LOT of these items & really put some time into choosing my very favorites! Have fun & happy Amazon searching! Click the read more button below to see 🙂
So I know there’s only +/- one month of Fall left, depending on where you live. In Northern Idaho, it aaaalmost feels like Winter. BUT, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t enjoy Fall to the fullest. And it definitely doesn’t mean you can’t get some new Fall decor. Because Fall freakin rocks. Whether you want to use it this year, or save it for next, there are some serious sales going on as they roll out all the Christmas stuff. I’m not lying. Nothing on this list is over $35! I may or may not have taken EXTREME advantage of that (I did). I’m going to use the stuff I purchased to touch up & embellish what I have decorated now, and save some for next year! I’ve organized it all by what you can use them for! Fall tablescape/mantle stuff, wall signs, Fall porch decorations, and just miscellaneous accent-type pieces. Of course there’s cross-over and you can use things I placed under wall signs for your table, I just tried to make it easy to search through. Cheers to Fall. 🙂
Yes, everything in this list is UNDER $50. I wanted to put together this round up because I think a lot of people don’t realize that you can get REALLY cute decor items without emptying your bank account. I mean, we already have to buy presents… possibly expensive plane tickets… and our property taxes are due. So I think we can all agree that budget-friendly holiday decorations are basically awesome! I’ve organized it by store. There’s everything from tablescape items to wood signs to pillows to tree decorations. If you have any questions, just post a comment & I will try to answer it! I had a lot of fun searching for these budget-friendly buys, and I hope you enjoy looking through them & find something you like 🙂
It’s Monday. Word on the street is that Mondays aren’t the best day of the week… but I know you’ve had a strong cup of coffee and I have faith that your day will be awesome. For sure. In hopes of adding a little extra inspiration to your Monday morning, I thought I’d share some of my favorite farmhouse style decor buys for the coziest master bedroom! We’re talking bedding, pillows, and throw blankets. Which is actually really exciting to me, and hopefully you too!
